Collaborative Governance 2015 Annual Report

We are pleased to bring you the 2015 Annual Report for Collaborative Governance (CG). Collaborative Governance plays an integral role in shaping and advancing the practice of the various disciplines that comprise MGH Patient Care Services. Its success rests on the ability to shift clinical decision-making from administrators to clinicians at the bedside. By empowering staff in this way, clinicians are positioned to use their knowledge, experience and commitment to provide the best possible care to patients and families. Operational oversight and support for the Collaborative Governance Program and its seven staff-led committees rests within The Institute for Patient Care.

Collaborative Governance 2008 Annual Report

We are pleased to bring you the 2008 Annual Report for Collaborative Governance (CG). Massachusetts General Hospital is proud of its CG program, one of the longest running and most successful programs in the US. Now in its 12th year, CG is an empowerment structure that has provided opportunities for leadership, professional growth, and a voice in decision-making to hundreds of PCS professional staff. It is impossible to estimate CGs many positive effects on its members although qualitative findings from serial surveys strongly and consistently support transformative personal and professional growth. Participation in CG has been the impetus for many staff to advance their educations, assume new positions, and volunteer for service in their professional organizations and communities. Members appreciate and often remark at the organizational perspectives they have gained from early access to information. Most identify new linkages with professionals from other departments who then become friends and resources. Over the years, CG has substantially contributed to the high satisfaction of PCS staff.

Collaborative Governance 2007 Annual Report

We are pleased to bring you the 2007 Annual Report for Collaborative Governance. This year marked several important milestones in the history of Collaborative Governance. The first is the ten-year anniversary of Collaborative Governance whose mission is to stimulate, facilitate, generate, and disseminate knowledge that will improve patient care and enhance the environment in which clinicians shape their practice. Under the direction and support of chief nurse and senior vice president, Jeanette Ives Erickson, RN, MS, FAAN, Collaborative Governance has matured as a vibrant mechanism for staff decision making, a structure is that is fully embedded in MGH culture.

Collaborative Governance 2006 Annual Report

In 2006 we will once again formally evaluate the Collaborative Governance structure based on the concepts of empowerment, professional development, professional satisfaction and communication effectiveness. We will seek input from Collaborative Governance members and non-members as well as leaders and managers to fully understand the impact of Collaborative Governance on the MGH and the practice environment. We will also seek to learn more about the information needs of the organization about the work of Collaborative Governance to inform our strategic planning process in 2006.
