Current work:
- Using Medicine/Ovid we learned to search literature to answer a Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome (PICO) question regarding CLABS.
- EBP subgroup plans to review the central line policies from the organization and the regulatory organizations “central line bundles.”
- DYK poster will be developed using the PICO format.
2012 Goals
- The Journal Club, in an effort to better meet the needs of the patient care services professionals at MGH, will bring original research presentations closer to the clinical area of practice.
- The Journal Club’s goal is to target areas of research and evidence based practice that is relevant to individual specialties to present specific areas of evidence based practice and research to meet the goals of the unit and practice.
- The EBP Subcommittee will reach out to the clinical staff for investigatory opportunities in an attempt to increase the application of clinical inquiry through the utilization of the “The Iowa Model of Evidence-based Practice to Promote Quality Care”.
- The “Did You Know…” Subcommittee will continue to invite topics on evidence based clinical practices for the development and distribution of informational posters for the MGH community.

The Patient Care Services Research and Evidence-based Practice Committee (REBP) exists to foster the spirit of inquiry around clinical practice. The committee supports nurses in the research utilization process and communicates the results of nursing research activities. We believe that passion and purpose fueled by energizing forces builds great achievements.return to top
Responsibilities:
- Foster a spirit of inquiry around clinical practice.
- Promote awareness of institutional nursing research activities.
- Encourage and provide support for research-based practice.
- Engage in joint projects with other Collaborative Governance committees.
- Align the work of the committee with PCS strategic goals. return to top
2010 Accomplishments
- Developed “Did You Know” posters on noise reduction to promote rest and sleep.
- Local authors presented at Journal Club.
- Collaborated on the annual Research Nursing Expo. return to top
