About the Institute for Patient Care

Operations Associate (OA)

The Operations Associate (OA) is an important role for the smooth and efficient operations of a nursing unit. The orientation program is designed to provide the learner with a hands-on experience of the different computer systems used on a nursing unit. The faculty-led class consists of hands on practice, PATCOM, POE, CBEDS, and HealthStream training, computer based resources as they relate to practice, policies, and procedures.  One full day is spent on the unit to observe. Once leaving classroom orientation the new OA will be matched with a seasoned OA for 3-5 weeks to insure full competency.
