Registered Nurse (RN) In the Department of Nursing,
Guided by these beliefs, RN orientation promotes safety, quality care and effective role performance reflective of the mission, vision and values of Massachusetts General Hospital and Patient Care Services. Orientation is the process in which each RN is introduced to regulatory requirements, the professional practice environment and safety and quality initiatives for patient and family centered care. The RN follows a carefully charted pathway whereby he/she is provided with an opportunity to acquire the elements of practice knowledge. It is a guided journey through the domains of sensory motor skills development, cognitive attainment and affective growth resulting in acquisition of MGH practice standards.
