NURSING RESEARCH AT MGH Nursing research is an essential component of the Professional Practice Model at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Through the utilization of existing research and the development, testing, evaluation, and refinement of new knowledge, patient care is advanced. Opportunities for nursing research exist across settings and within all dimensions of professional nursing. The Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research provides an infrastructure to mobilize resources and support nursing research initiatives which advance clinical practice, foster a spirit of inquiry throughout MGH and the professional nursing community, and optimize quality patient care outcomes. Impact
The development of research to advance nursing knowledge impacts care outcomes and enhances the professional practice environment for providers of care. Currently, this work is occurring in several areas including workforce evaluation, evidence-based practice and Instrument development. Dissemination of research advances in areas of nursing research concentration is facilitated through the Nursing Research Expo, presentations, and publications.
