About Grant Development The Munn Center is designed to assist with the development, submission, monitoring, and evaluation of grant applications. Center staff help to facilitate the researcher’s goals with the most appropriate agencies for potential grant funding. In addition, they provide assistance with the development and review of a Concept Paper and Impact Statement, accessing the IRB review process and CITI Certification, and guiding budget development. Concept Paper – All researchers interested in submitting a research proposal for any funding source (internal and external) are asked to complete the attached Concept Paper prior to setting up an appointment with the Munn Center. This two-page document enables Center staff to focus on the intent of the study, the overall study plan, research team, and potential funding sources. The paper also enables the researcher to delineate the study intent and can enhance future meetings with the grant manager, program coordinator and/or nurse scientists. The Impact Statement – This form can be completed by the researcher prior to the consideration of a grant submission. It is an opportunity for the researcher to communicate to his/her leadership the intent to submit a grant proposal and the potential impact a funded project would have on his/her current role within a Patient Care Services unit or department and on nursing practice at the MGH. Final approval by the applicant’s Direct Supervisor is required prior to grant development.
