Submitting a Proposal for Funding through All MGH nursing proposals including research, education/training, workforce and demonstrations submitted for funding internally (MGH/Partners) and externally (government funding agencies, foundations, professional organizations and societies will be administratively supported and processed through the Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research. The Munn Center provides technical assistance and consultation to nurse researchers within the MGH community in liaison with the MGH Office of Grants and Contracts, the office within Partners Research Administration. The Grants and Contracts office requires a minimum of two weeks prior to proposal submission to review and approve the necessary documentation. The proposal is submitted directly from the Munn Center to the Office of Grants and Contracts and then by Grants and Contracts to the respective funding agency. Some grant announcements are posted with as little as 30 days’ notice for submission. Please contact the Munn Center immediately upon hearing of such announcement so that we can help you develop a time frame and outline to support your work. Of course, in the best case scenario, several months is not a long time to develop a strong proposal. When funding cycles are published by fiscal year, it is possible to begin working on a proposal many months in advance. This is ideal! In this era of fiscal constraints, there is much competition for scarce dollars. The best strategy for the development of a proposal is early, thoughtful planning, dedication and receiving the best support possible from the Munn Center. For MGH nurses interested in pursuing a grant opportunity (large or small), please contact Elaine G. Cohen at 617-726-1989 (egcohen@partners.org) in the Munn Center. Center staff can help you and your team to explore funding opportunities or respond to a funding announcement. We will assist PI/PD and team to review/interpret the guidelines and develop a timeline for required documents for submission through the MGH Grants and Contracts Office. Ryan Sullivan at 617-726-6844 (rksullivan@partners.org) will develop the budget. The MGH has also developed a very useful research intranet site which may be found at http://mghresearch.partners.org. The intent of this intranet site is to make available an organized inventory of Funding Resources, Policies and Procedures, Departments and Centers, Forms, News and Events, and Tools frequently used by the MGH research community.
