About Patient Care Services
Central Resource Team

The Central Resource Team (CRT) provides short-term staffing support to inpatient units. CRT registered nurses provide assistance to patient care units in response to fluctuations in volume and/or acuity and provide nursing care and management of patients traveling to testing or procedural areas. CRT nurses have the opportunity to care for patients with surgical, medical, orthopaedic and neurologic conditions. Our support staff team of patient care associates, operations associates and unit service associates are deployed to patient care units and treatment areas to cover staffing needs.

The patient care delivery model is a patient-focused model, supported by primary nursing. Patient-focused care is high quality, comprehensive, accessible, supportive and personalized care.

Team members include patient care associates, operations associates and unit service associates. These staff members are assigned to patient care units in increments of four, eight and twelve hours to provide supplemental staffing. For available positions on this unit please visit our website at

Staff schedules are driven by patient need. The scheduling process is collaborative between staff and management, and attempts are made to be flexible to accommodate personal and educational needs when possible.

All RNs attend a Department of Nursing orientation program. Unit orientation is preceptor based, individualized and determined by the nursing director and the new employee. The length of orientation is also individually determined.

Staff education and development is supported by The Norman Knight Nursing Center for Clinical & Professional Development. Full and partial day programs are offered. Staff may also access outside educational opportunities. The teaching environment provides staff with a daily opportunity to discuss patient care related educational issues with members of the graduate medical education program and with other members of the care-delivery team.

Clinical nurse specialists provide educational support to staff on the nursing units. Staff has time allocated and the necessary support to offer educational programs to other staff members. Nursing Grand Rounds programs are offered on a regular basis.

RNs may advance in their clinical practice and demonstrate proficiency through the Clinical Recognition Program.
