About Patient Care Services

Boston residents who are age 65 or older or who have a disability can buy taxi coupon books worth $10.00 at a cost of $5.00.

  • Taxi coupon books may be purchased at Boston City Hall, Room 271 or at your local senior center or elderly housing complex. Call ahead for availability: 617-635-4366.
  • Taxi coupons may be purchased with cash only.
  • Bring photo ID and proof of Boston residency when purchasing coupon books.
  • Residents can purchase no more than two coupon books each month.
  • Taxi coupons never expire.

While all Boston licensed taxi drivers are required to accept the coupons, riders are advised to not tell the driver in advance that you are using coupons to avoid a driver refusing the ride.

If you've had a problem in a taxi, or if you've lost something, you can use the form at www.cityofboston.gov/police/taxi.asp to lodge a complaint or report a problem. During the week, between 8:30 - 4:00, you can contact the Boston Police Hackney Unit directly at 617-343-4475 for more information.
