Suboxone Maintenance Group

For patients with recovery who are maintained on Suboxone.

What: This group is designed to help patients with recovery who are maintained on suboxone. The group will focus on reinforcing abstinence while taking suboxone. This group will be offered three times a week. Potential members join one section only.
When
: Mondays, 9:00-10:00 AM - Facilitated by Karsten Kueppenbender, M.D.; Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00 PM - Facilitated by: Carlos Suarez, M.D. and Fridays 10:00 - 11:00 AM - Facilitated by Nalan Ward, M.D.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Substance Use Group

What: Structured therapy designed specifically for patients with borderline personality disorder and related symptoms, who have no previous DBT skills training. This group is designed to assist patients in their use of DBT skills and principles. DBT teaches four different set of skills: core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These set of skills focus on developing mindfulness of one's own emotional responses, learning how to tolerate distress, survive crisis situations, regulate intense emotions, and improve relationships.
When: Friday 1:30-3:00pm.
Where: West End Clinic, Room 110
Members: Maximum of 8
Age: Adult/varied
Duration of membership: 6-8 weeks

Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (E-IOP)

An Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (E-IOP) for adults with substance use disorders. The E-IOP will be in addition to the daytime Adult IOP and the Transitional Age Youth IOP.

What: The E-IOP is designed to meet the needs of individuals who are suffering from addiction but have other conflicting commitments such as work, school or child care with day time treatment. The program will provide services 5 evenings a week and will include psycho-education, symptom reduction/management, relapse prevention skills, process group, psychopharmacology, family counseling, orientation to community-based support programs and case management. The E-IOP will assist individuals with aftercare planning and transition management
When
: The program will provide services 5 nights per week with group sessions meeting Monday-Friday from 4-7pm. In addition, each patient will be scheduled to meet with their individual clinician as well as for psychiatric evaluations, family meetings, and case management visits.

Opiate Recovery Group
Time of Group: Monday 9:00am-10:00am
Location of Group: West End Clinic, Room 105
Members:  Maximum of 10
Age range of members: ages late 20s-60s
Duration of membership: Minimum of 6 months
Group Specifics: Process group, mixed gender for adults who are focused of building relapse prevention skills and are prescribed Suboxone maintenance therapy.


Opiate Recovery Group

Members:  Maximum of 10
Age range of members: ages 20s-30s
Duration of membership: Minimum of 6 months
Group Specifics: Process group, mixed gender for adults who are focused of building relapse prevention skills and are prescribed Suboxone maintenance therapy.


Buprenorphine Medication Management Group
Time of Group: Friday 10:00-11:00am
Location of Group: West End Clinic, Room 110
Members:  Maximum of 10
Age range of members: ages 20s-30s
Duration of membership: No minimum
Group Specifics: Process group, mixed gender for adults who are focused on maintaining abstinence from opiates and reducing theiruse of other substances of abuse. The purpose of the group is to support and sustain patient's commitment to abstinence from heroin and pills and support their recovery. Weekly toxicology monitoring on Mondays and Tuesdays and attendance of the group on Fridays is required to receive a prescription for buprenorphine/naloxone.


Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention Group
Time of Group: Tuesday 1:00-2:00pm
Location of Group: Wang 8
Members: Maximum of 10
Age range of members: 25-75
Duration of membership: 10 weeks
Group Specifics: The goals of this group are to develop awareness of depressive-related triggers and habitual reactions and learn ways to create a pause in this seemingly automatic process. Foster and support a kind, compassionate approach toward ourselves and one's depression. Build a lifestyle that supports mindfulness practice, emotional well-being, and recovery.


Evening Relapse Prevention Group
Time of Group: Tuesday 3:00-4:00pm
Location of Group: Wang 8  
Members: Maximum of 10
Age range of members: 25-75
Duration of membership: 10 weeks
Group Specifics: This time managed group provides opportunities for peer support and guidance. Participants seeking support for abstinence are welcome and can join at any point in the group. Prospective members must complete a formal intake assessment at the West End Clinic prior to consideration for this group.


Readiness Group
Time of Group: Thursday 12:00-1:00pm
Location of Group: West End Clinic, Room 110
Members: Maximum of 13
Age range of members 25-75
Duration of membership: 8 weeks
Group Specifics: A mixed gender time managed group with a commitment to participation for 8 weeks.  The group provides an opportunity for discussion, skill building and information relevant to abstinence or reduction of use. Content repeats. This group is not an abstinence-based group.
