Support Group for Parents of Veterans and Service Members

A support group for parents of veterans and/or active duty service members.

What : This is a monthly informal, non-structured group where parents of those who have served or are serving in the Armed Services can find support, encouragement, solace, and be with others who share their heart. Parking and food are provided.
When : This group is held on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:00--7:30 PM.
Where : The Home Base Clinic, One Constitution Wharf, Suite 140; Charlestown, MA 02129.

Support Group for Military-Connected Spouses and Significant Others

A support group for military-connected spouses or co-habituating partners.

What : This is a monthly informal, non-structured group aimed to provide all military spouses and partners a comfortable and positive environment to gain resources, vent, and support each other as military partners. Dinner will be provided.
When : This group is held on the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00--8:30 PM.
Where : The Newton-Wellesley Hospital Ambulatory Care Center, 159 Wells Avenue, Newton, MA 02459.

Peer Support Group for Veterans and Service Members

A support group for veterans and service members.

What : This is a monthly informal, non-structured group for veterans and service members to connect regularly and to provide an receive feedback from peers. Lunch and parking will be provided.
When : This group is held on the last Friday of each month at 12:30 PM.
Where : The Home Base Clinic, One Constitution Wharf, Suite 140; Charlestown, MA 02129.
Contact : The group is led by a Veteran Outreach Coordinator at Home Base. For questions or more information, call Home Base at 617-724-5202. Registration is not required.


Recovery Group for Veterans and Service Members

A support group for veterans and/or active-duty service members.

What : This is a recovery group for veterans and service members interested in reducing or discontinuing their use of alcohol and/or other drugs. Abstinence from substance is not a requirement. This is a treatment group requiring attendance of at least 8 consecutive sessions.
When : This group is held on Fridays from 11:00 AM--12:15 PM.
Where : The Home Base Clinic, One Constitution Wharf, Suite 140; Charlestown, MA 02129.

"Facing Fears" Group for Veterans and Service Members

A support group for veterans and/or active-duty service members.

What : This is a recovery group for veterans and service members who are struggling to face anxiety-provoking situations, places, and/or people, are willing to learn how avoidance might maintain these fears, and are open to addressing these concerns directly with peer support. This is a treatment group requiring attendance of at least 8 consecutive sessions.
When : This group is held on Fridays from 9:00--10:15 AM.
Where : The Home Base Clinic, One Constitution Wharf, Suite 140; Charlestown, MA 02129.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group

A support group for veterans and/or active-duty service members.

What : This is a skills-based group designed to support clients who are interested in reducing interpersonal conflicts, better regulating their emotions, and decreasing impulsive behaviors. In group, clients develop more effective distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
When : This group is held on Tuesdays from 9:00--10:15 AM.
Where : The Home Base Clinic, One Constitution Wharf, Suite 140; Charlestown, MA 02129.

Military Bereavement Support Group

A support group for military family members whose loved one was lost in service to our nation by any means- combat, suicide, or medical illness.

What : This is a support group designed to both educate and support family members in the grief process. The group will offer a place for people to feel less alone in their grief, as well as a place to understand the intense emotions that are a normal part of the grieving process.
When : This group is held on the first Monday of every month from 4:30--6:00 PM.
Where : The Home Base Clinic, One Constitution Wharf, Suite 140; Charlestown, MA 02129.
