Being able to communicate thoughts, feelings, needs and desires is a fundamental part of everyday life irrespective of age. When a person’s ability to speak, listen, read or write is affected, daily living can be frustrating and isolating, affect socialization, learning and relationships. Likewise, mealtimes represent an important social ritual that can be difficult and intimidating for those who are unable to swallow safely.
The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Department of Speech, Language and Swallowing Disorders & Reading Disabilities offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment programs for all communication and swallowing disorders in acute and outpatient populations - from newborns to adults.
