The MGH Department of Speech, Language and Swallowing disorders features a diverse staff with clinical expertise in a variety of communication, learning and swallowing disorders. Together, we are committed to setting the highest standard of clinical service.
All MGH Speech-Language Pathologists have earned at least a master’s degree.
All staff members either hold or are in the process of obtaining a state license and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American-Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) as mandated by ASHA standards.
The Department is involved in training and education of future speech-language pathologists. Students from educational institutions across the country participate in clinical experiences and internships. However, MGH has a special relationship with the MGH Institute of Health Professions Communication Sciences and Disorders Program and these students have preference as part of our affiliation agreement.
Guided by the needs of our diverse patients, families and communities, we strive to provide the highest quality care for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders in a thoughtful and compassionate manner; share best practices; mentor current and future generations of speech-language pathologists; and advance practice through clinical research and innovation.
We ensure patients and families are our primary focus and their experience reflects our commitment to our mission, where:
