APRN Education

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), whether they are nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, nurse anesthetists, or nurse midwives, play an important role in the delivery of health care. The APRN is often a primary care provider and is at the forefront of providing preventative care to the patients and their families, as well as providing expert inpatient - acute and critical care. APRNs are professional registered nurses who have met advanced educational and clinical practice requirements, and are authorized by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to practice as an independent clinician. For more information regarding authorization and legal scope of practice for the APRN, please visit the website of the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services.
