THE GREAT WAR and MGH NURSING

In 1917, the United States entered The Great War — later refered to more commonly as World War I. In April 2017, the U.S. War Department ordered that MGH Base Hospital No. 6 to be activated, and MGH doctors and nurses began shipping out to France to care for the wounded and diseased soldiers. They went on to care for some 24,122 men. Here are some of their stories of these brave nurses known as the "Bordeaux Belles"...
