Faculty Nurse Scientist Appointments

The appointment of a growing cohort of nationally recognized faculty nurse scientists and senior nurse scientists to the Center continues to expand opportunities for nursing research activities and mentoring of MGH staff. Qualifications for appointments include a master’s degree in nursing and a doctorate in nursing or related field, licensure in Massachusetts as a registered nurse, and faculty appointment at an accredited University.

Each request is reviewed on an individual basis, and appointments are made according to criteria established for the Faculty Nurse Scientist.

Faculty interested in conducting research at the MGH are invited to submit a letter of request along with a Curriculum Vitae to the Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research to Linda Lyster: llyster@parters.org

Expectations of external faculty nurse scientists:

  • Participate in the mentoring of doctorally-prepared nurses and staff in clinical research activities in the process of building a program of research.
  • Disseminate research findings and expand research activities with staff and members of an interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Contribute to research goals of the organization by helping to advance the research agenda of future scholars at the MGH.
  • Meet with staff from the Munn Center in a variety of forums including a “think tank” and the Munn Research Award review committee.
  • Participate in the annual Nursing Research Day at MGH, bys serving as an abstract reviewer or poster judge.
  • Participate in Doctoral Forum activities and, when appropriate, present research at Grand Rounds.
  • Contribute knowledge to the advancement of nursing research at MGH by engaging in and promoting nursing inquiry and knowledge development.
