Credentialing

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physican Assistants

The credentialing processes at MGH are designed to ensure that health professionals who provide services at MGH are qualified and prepared. Credentialing for advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants is coordinated by the Centralized Credentialing Office (CCO). 

Credentialing is required for the following role groups:

Physician Assistants (PAs)
Advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) include:

For all candidates, the Human Resources Department and the respective director/supervisor coordinate the application and selection process based on the candidate's education, proof of licensure, registration, related certifications and experience required for the position. APRNs and PAs are required by follow Massachusetts regulations, MGH Bylaws, and MGH policies to practice in the role.

Credentialing for Registered Nurses Who Are Not MGH Employees:

Registered nurses who are not MGH employees but wish to provide services at MGH must complete an application (Non-MGH Registered Nurses Request for Authorization) which indicates the professional activities they wish to perform, history of immunizations, evidence of licensure and malpractice insurance. Authorization to do research, patient care and/or consultation is coordinated through the Patient Care Services Institute for Patient Care.
