Inpatient (including the Emergency Department)

• General: Epic Consult – use the consult order “IP Consult to Social Work.” See our Tip Sheet for Multidisciplinary Colleagues
• Emergency Department  – page Social Work/Emergency Dept on call also please use Epic consult order “IP Consult to Social Work.”Emergency Department social workers are on-site from 8:30 am - 11:00 pm seven days a week.

Ambulatory

• Adult outpatient mental health referrals - To be eligible for these services patients must have an MGH PCP, be 18 years of age or older, and have insurance that covers outpatient counseling or therapy. To refer, the patient or you may call 617-726-2643 and ask for the Intake social worker.
• Please place an Ambulatory Epic Referral. See Tip Sheets (.pdfs)

After-Hours Emergencies

For ambulatory mental health emergencies please instruct patients to call 911 or go to their local emergency room.

We provide 24 hour coverage for the Emergency Department and inpatient services.

• Staff are on-site in the Emergency Department until 11:00 pm.
• On-call staff are available for emergencies between 11:00 pm and 8:30 am.
